Safety Tips
Your safety, privacy, and peace of mind are important to us. While Nikah Sunnah takes steps to maintain a respectful and marriage-focused environment, every user should exercise wisdom and caution throughout the marriage process. The following guidelines can help you navigate introductions safely while remaining within Islamic boundaries.
1. Involve Family Early
Family involvement provides guidance, accountability, and valuable perspective throughout the marriage process. We encourage users to involve parents, guardians, or trusted family members early. Let your family establish the first contact with the potential match.
2. Protect Your Personal Information
Avoid sharing sensitive personal information too early in the process, including:
- Home address
- Financial details
- Government identification documents
- Workplace information
- Private photos
Take time to establish trust and verify serious intentions before sharing personal details.
3. Verify Information Independently
Marriage is one of the most important decisions of your life. Take reasonable steps to verify information shared by potential matches. Consider speaking with:
- Family members
- Community leaders
- Trusted references
- Friends or acquaintances who know the individual
Sincere individuals will generally welcome reasonable efforts to verify important information.
4. Meet Safely and Respectfully
If an in-person meeting is arranged, ensure it takes place in an appropriate environment. We recommend:
- Public locations
- Family homes
- Family-supervised meetings
- Appropriate family or guardian involvement at all stages is mandatory
Avoid secluded or inappropriate settings that may compromise safety or Islamic boundaries.
5. Watch for Red Flags
Exercise caution if someone:
- Pressures you to move unusually fast.
- Avoids answering important questions.
- Refuses reasonable verification.
- Requests money or financial assistance.
- Attempts to isolate you from family involvement.
- Behaves inconsistently or dishonestly.
Trust your judgment and seek advice from trusted family members or mentors when concerns arise.
6. Never Send Money
Do not send money, gifts, or financial assistance to individuals you meet through the platform, regardless of their circumstances or requests. Nikah Sunnah will never ask users to send money directly to another member.
7. Report Suspicious Behaviour
If you experience harassment, inappropriate conduct, fraudulent activity, or any behaviour that makes you uncomfortable, please report it to our support team immediately. Prompt reporting helps us maintain a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
8. Take Your Time
There is no need to rush important decisions. A successful marriage is built on compatibility, transparency, mutual understanding, and sincere intentions. Take the time necessary to ask questions, involve trusted advisors, perform due diligence, and make informed decisions.
At Nikah Sunnah, our goal is to help Muslims pursue marriage in a safe, respectful, and Islamically conscious manner. While we work to foster a trustworthy community, users remain responsible for exercising good judgment and conducting their own due diligence throughout the marriage process.
